Food, Fun and Face!

Welcome to my blog! I'm starting this blog to add some spice to some of your kitchens! I follow a primal lifestyle which basically means I eat a whole bunch of vegetables, good meats, some fruit, nuts and seeds and a little dairy. I avoid eating all grains and try not to eat processed food and limit the amount of sugar I throw down my throat. Basically the name of the game is to eat REAL FOOD. Sounds simple right? But sometimes people find it hard to start to eat this way. So this blog is here to help you (and me) throw together some awesome tasty food . So please stay a while and get your creative kitchen juices flowing again!!

Pork Slices and spiced Brussels Sprouts

Well it's been a mighty long time since I've done a post!

I have just recently started a new job which has taken up all of my time over the last few months but now is the time to get back into posting some delicious primal recipes.

I'm also going to try and do a few posts now and then about eating primal while travelling. Seeing as the new job has me going overseas all the time it's always a challenge to find primal meals everywhere. Ill be the first to admit that it's been very difficult to stick to the lifestyle while I'm away but what more can we do than try our best? Hopefully sharing my experiences while travelling will give you guys some more ideas on how to stay on top of things!

Today's meal was once again very simple to put together. And the simple ones always end up tasting the best!

Pork Slices
Brussels Sprouts
3x Tomatoes
1x Red Onion
Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper

First thing of course is to put some music on! Get those tunes going to get you in the mood for cooking.

As soon as you walk into the kitchen turn the oven on to full temp.

Grab an oven tray put and put theory slices in with the skin up.

Rub a little olive oil on the skin and then salt them generously.

Spread the pork slices out a little and them pop them in the oven and turn the heat down to 200*C.

Give the pork about 40mins before you start preparing the Brussels sprouts.

Once you have waited patiently and stopped dancing to your sweet tunes then its time to get the Brussels sprouts going.

Before we get onto this lets talk spices. I just recently came back from L.A. and brought back with me a big jar of garlic and dried spices all in one. Not sure if we have anything like this in N.Z.

But never fear. We can just mix up some spices. You can buy dried garlic granules here and use this if you can but if you can't get your hands on it then use the fresh stuff!

My mixed spice combo had in it: oregano, basil, parsley and paprika. So if you want to mix together about 1.5 tsp of each then that will set you right.

Slide up your onion and drop into a pan on a medium heat. Add a couple of gluts of olive oil.

Let that fry off for a little while.

While that's frying away cut your brussel sprouts in half length ways.

Then add them to the pan with the onion.

Then add the spice mix to your pan and give it a good stir.

Also season now with salt and pepper.

Let that fry away for a few minutes and while that's happening slice up your tomatoes.

Then add the tomato to the pan.

Give it all a good stir and turn the heat down a fraction and put a lid over the pan.

Every so often take the lid off and give it a stir.

When the pork slices are nice and golden and the skin is crispy it's ready to plate up!
